Public Safety Millage Renewal
Shall the City be authorized to continue to levy an amount not to exceed 7.5 mils on taxable property in the City of Center Line, County of Macomb, Michigan ($7.50 per thousand dollars of taxable value) for a period of ten (10) years, 2021 through 2030, inclusive, as a renewal of the 7.5mils previously authorized by the electors of the City in 2011, for the purpose of providing funds to the Department of Public Safety for operating expenses; for sworn public safety officers (police & fire), and support personnel; for capital requirements, including equipment acquisition; and for related program support for the Department of Public Safety?
If approved, the maximum rate of the renewed millage (7.5 mils) shall not exceed the originally authorized maximum rate of the current public safety millage (7.5 mils) due to expire after the 2020 tax year. If approved, the millage will be set at 7.5 mils adjusted by any required roll backs at the time of levy in 2021 and thereafter. Based on the current taxable value of Center Line real and personal property it is estimated that 7.5 mils would raise approximately $1,160,000.
